HOW TO CONSIGN AT GARDEROBE
Why should I consign?
Here are some reasons we have heard regularly:
1.I only wore it once.
2.I need room in my closet.
3.I have other similar items.
How does consignment work at Garderobe?
Place a call to the store or email (firstname.lastname@example.org) and we’ll discuss the type and amount of items you have to offer. We will then set up an appointment to see if they fit the concept of the store. Please ensure that the items are clean and are in a good condition.
What if I don't live in the UAE?
Clients who live abroad can package up their prospective items for consignment and ship them to us for review. After we have edited your pieces, we will return any items to you that we do not feel are a good fit for our store. After your consignment period is up we will then ship the items that have not sold back to you or donate them to charity if you chose to donate.
Do you make house calls?
We will make a house call as long as the labels are right for us and there are over 30 items for us to review.
What type of items are you looking for?
We do very well with handbags, costume jewellery, belts, dresses and shoes. Of course, we are always looking for stand-out pieces from any particular collection. If in doubt about an item simply bring it in, let us see what it is and together we will discuss if it is right for the shop or not.
How long do you keep the items?
Usually about 3 months; however, we may hang onto limited-edition and/or collectable items for a longer period of time if you agree. After that, you will have the option to have items shipped back to you, picked up or donated. (See consignor agreement).
How does payment work?
We split the proceeds 50/50. Cheques go out on the 26th of each month for the prior month’s sales. However we do not write cheques to the consignor if the outstanding amount is less than 1,000 AED. In this case we will wait until the next month to write the cheque.
How do you set pricing?
We will work together with the consignor set prices. If it is an in-demand handbag, is in stores now, or is a classic label like Chanel or Hermès, we will give the consignor a higher percentage of the price.
Do you ever reduce prices?
Normally we do not, unless a client is making a large purchase and/or we are having a special event. We ask our consignors to give us 10-20% leeway when making a sale.
Do you offer trades?
No, sorry we do not.
Will you sell my items on any online arenas or on your website?
No, not at present time but we will be advertising items in our shop on our website and social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.
Do you disclose who your consignors are?
No, Never. We have a very strict non-disclosure policy.
